Jogada is a game of buraco that shows no advertising while you play. What is on the screen is the table, and nothing else.
Before you sit down: the game still opens in Portuguese. The rules are the same and the table reads without much text, but we would rather say it now than after you arrive. English is written and waiting to be published.
What no ads means here
Three concrete things, and all three are out. No banner takes up part of the screen while a hand is being played. No video is put in front of the game to let you carry on. No window opens over the cards when the hand ends.
For anyone playing with a phone in one hand, that has a practical consequence: your thumb does not slip onto an advert just as you were about to discard. A hand lasts as long as the hand lasts.
Nothing to install, and no card asked for
Search for buraco and most of what comes back is a download. This one opens in the browser, on a phone, a tablet or a computer. There is no install, no update to wait for, and we do not ask for a card.
Fair play is the other half of the same idea, and it is set out on the fair play page: the deck is shuffled at random every hand, and nothing that can be bought changes the cards you are dealt.
What is at the table
Two decks, eleven cards to each player and two face-down mortos of eleven, one per side. A canastra is a meld of seven cards or more: dirty if it holds a wildcard and worth 100, clean if it holds none and worth 200.
Tables of two, or of four in pairs. An offline mode against the computer for when the connection drops. Private tables with an invite code, for playing with people you know. A game runs to a fixed target, and the first one you play is to 1500 points.
Questions people ask
- Do I have to watch a video to carry on playing?
- No. Nothing appears between one hand and the next. The cards are dealt again and the game carries on.
- Is it really free?
- Yes. It opens in the browser, there is nothing to install and we do not ask for a card.
- Can I play without a connection?
- Yes. There is an offline mode against the computer, with the same rules as the table.
