Fair play at a buraco table

The deck is shuffled at random at the start of every hand, and the deal is the same for every seat. There is no advert while you play, and there is nothing you can buy that changes the cards you are dealt.

Before you sit down: the game still opens in Portuguese. The rules are the same and the table reads without much text, but we would rather say it now than after you arrive. English is written and waiting to be published.

The cards come out at random, every hand

The deck is shuffled when the hand starts and nobody touches it again. Two decks. Each player is dealt eleven cards, and two face-down mortos of eleven are left on the table, one for each side.

The deal is done by the server, not by your device and not by anyone else's. Your hand is not visible from the other seats, and nothing you do away from the table changes the card that comes next.

Nobody gets better cards for paying

There is one way to deal, and it is the one you see. There are no marked cards, there is no version that deals better, and there is no help that can be bought. The distance between a dirty canastra, a meld of seven or more that holds a wildcard and is worth 100, and a clean one, worth 200, is opened by your decisions: when to put cards down, when to hold a wildcard back, and when to end the hand.

The target is the same for both sides. A game runs to 1000, 1500, 2000 or 3000 points, set when the table is made, and the first game you play is to 1500.

The computer plays by the same rules

When a seat is filled by the computer, the hand runs on the same rules and the same random deal. It cannot end a hand on easier terms than you can: its side has to have taken the morto and to hold a clean canastra, exactly as yours does. Those two conditions are set out on the going out page.

No adverts, and nothing to install

The table is not interrupted. There is no advert before you sit down and none between one hand and the next, so a game lasts as long as the game lasts. It opens in the browser and there is nothing to download.

You can also check it on your own. There is an offline mode against the computer, and private tables with an invite code for playing with people you choose.
